On 20 September, Barwood Capital took part in the Bidwells Golden Triangle Bike Ride 2019; 100 miles starting in Oxford, to the half way point at Milton Keynes, then continuing on the final leg into Cambridge. It was all in aid of the chosen charity for 2018; Maggie’s Cancer Centres. Maggie’s offers free practical, emotional and social support to people living with cancer, and their family and friends. Built in the grounds of specialist NHS cancer hospitals, Maggie’s Centres are warm and welcoming places, with qualified professionals on hand to offer a programme of support that has been shown to improve physical and emotional wellbeing.
The ‘Barcycles’ team was made up of Andrew Barlow, Guy Brogden, Jonathon Ellerington, Hugh Elrington, Joanna Greenslade, Edward Henson, Danielle Sheppard and Joe Wright, as well as Nick Lloyd of EMW Law LLP, Joanna’s husband; Peter Greenslade and Andrew Woods and Andrew Querelle of Spratt Endicott Solicitors. Between them there was a real mix of abilities and experience of road cycling, so some serious training took place.
On the day, the weather was not kind, with strong winds and driving rain for the first 50 miles. Thankfully the weather was much improved for the second half when the rain stopped and the sun came out.
After 8 hours the Barcycles crossed the finish line in Cambridge! The team was exhausted but triumphant. Jo Greenslade, managing director said, “It made me so proud to have almost half of the Barwood Capital team, including Guy our Chairman, most of the property team and Joe our business analyst. It was such a great effort and a real achievement for everyone”.
