Adam Smith

Adam has worked in the property industry for the past 17 years, undertaking active asset management across a range of use classes and UK regions, with a pre-dominant focus on the industrial and office sectors. His experience captures both private capital and Plc management platforms.

Adam joined Barwood Capital in 2020 as Asset Management Director where he focuses on managing investments and developments on behalf of the Barwood Capital managed funds. Previously, he was responsible for the management of the Midlands and Yorkshire regions at Warehouse REIT and prior to that, he managed the UK industrial assets of a pan-European investment fund on behalf of Blackstone.

Outside of work, Adam is dedicated to his young family, is a keen cyclist and enjoys skiing. 

Alan Rudge

As a founder of Barwood Developments Ltd, Barwood Capital's original parent company, Alan has been one of the creative forces behind the success and growth of the Barwood stable of companies since 1996.

His experience since 1972 has been gained in regional and national property development, investment, and asset management, within dynamic corporate environments. He has personally created and delivered more than 5.0 million square feet of exciting and entrepreneurial commercial property schemes worth over £600 million and overseen much more.

Alan is keen on sailing, shooting, and other country pursuits.

Alex Jervis

Alex joined Barwood in August 2024. 

Ambika Shihn

Ambika joined Barwood in 2024. She studied BSC (Hons) Accounting & Finance at Aston University and MSc in Real Estate at University of Reading. Her main responsibilities are appraising new opportunities and assisting on MLI modelling and reporting.

Outside of work, Ambika enjoys spending time with friends and family and travelling to new destinations. She is also a keen member of the charity Nishkam SWAT. 

Danielle Sheppard

Danielle is responsible for managing Barwood’s commercial portfolios and developments, as well as overseeing its sustainability initiatives and sourcing new opportunities for its property funds. Ensuring that Barwood’s funds and mandates deliver optimal returns for investors, while upholding the company’s commitment to making a positive societal and environmental impact.

A Chartered Surveyor since 1998, Danielle previously worked at Lambert Smith Hampton where she was a divisional director working in the Midlands managing a team of professionals.

Danielle enjoys the time she spends with her children, family and friends and spends as much time in the mountains as she can; skiing, walking and biking. 

Edward Henson

Ed joined Barwood Capital in 2013, where he focussed on acquiring and managing investments and developments on behalf of the Barwood Capital managed funds, becoming Head of Acquisitions in 2018. Ed has an extensive network of regional contacts and has been responsible for many projects across the UK including 252 The Square in Milton Keynes, Buckingway Business Park in Cambridge, Super G in Castleford, Gatwick 55, Birmingham 100 and Highams Park, Chingford as examples.

Prior to joining Barwood Capital, Ed was Head of Property at Hotbed and subsequently a Partner at Riverside Capital, where he was responsible for the management and growth of a £250m commercial property portfolio.

Outside of work, Ed enjoys time with his family, comprising three young daughters. When time permits he tries to relive his sporting youth by enjoying tennis, golf, sailing and skiing.

Graham Wood

Graham has been a qualified Chartered Accountant and real estate professional since 2001. He has been involved in a wide range of areas including finance, debt raising, lead M&A and joint venturing across all main property sectors, but with a focus on commercial investment, build-to-rent residential and operational real estate businesses.

Prior to joining Barwood Capital, Graham was Chief Investment Officer at Criterion Capital Limited following time spent as a director with Ernst & Young in London.

In his spare time, Graham enjoys spending time with his wife and daughter, family, and friends. He also enjoys running, swimming, tennis and the occasional game of golf.

Guy Brogden

Guy founded, and until February 2014 was chief executive of, Mayfair Capital a London-based property investment fund management business which manages over £1.2bn AUM on behalf of charities, private clients and institutions.

Prior to that he spent 25 years in commercial property investment agency and was a partner at JLL, where he established a highly successful investment brokerage team.

Guy has many outside interests especially in education, sport and the arts. 

Hayley Gordge

Hayley has worked in client relations since 2004 and has a Business & Administration qualification. Hayley leads the fund raising and investor relations team, seeking new investors for Barwood's diverse range of regional property Funds and vehicles for both commercial and residential opportunities

In her spare time, Hayley enjoys spending time with her husband and two young daughters.  She loves a museum, will never pass up cake and will forever be fascinated by how bridges are engineered.

Henry Smith

Henry joined Barwood Capital in 2020 and is responsible for purchase and sales ledger control as well as assisting with monthly finance reporting. Henry is working towards his AAT qualification and has A Levels in Economics, History and Maths.

In his spare time Henry enjoys football and cricket as well as spending time with family and friends.

Hitesh Patel

Hitesh is primarily responsible for the financial accounting and reporting to investors and boards for Barwood Capital. He is also the FCA Compliance Officer and the Money Laundering Reporting Officer.

Hitesh has worked at Barwood Capital since 2006 and has been involved with the successful management of strategic land, income and growth funds. He has strong technical and commercial expertise in all areas of taxation, finance and reporting.

Having previously worked at KPMG Audit and Advisory services for over six years and heading up the Financial Reporting division at FKI plc, a FTSE 100 plc company, Hitesh brings a wealth of experience to Barwood Capital.

He is a member of the National Landlords Association and has drawn inspiration from the Homes Under the Hammer TV programme as he has an interest in the student property market. He enjoys travelling, playing badminton and spending time with his children.

Hugh Elrington

Hugh has been working in the real estate market since 1989. He has been involved in a wide range of areas, from equity raising, investment, development, debt sourcing, fund, and asset management, through to the structuring of transactions. He has carried out these roles across all the main property sectors in both the UK and continental Europe, including more recently the build-to-rent sector.

Hugh joined Barwood Capital in April 2018 as Head of Property and became Managing Director in March 2019. Prior to that, he was a Partner at Rockspring PIM, responsible for the company’s transactional activities in the UK and France, the Managing Partner of Pensus LLP and a Senior Director at CBRE.

Outside of work, Hugh spends most of his time with his family, at home or watching his three boys from the side-lines and remains active through running, spinning, golf, skiing and shooting.

Hugo Trower

Hugo joined the residential development team at Barwood Capital in January 2019 to manage our growing residential portfolio.

Prior to joining, Hugo, a Chartered Surveyor, worked in the development team at Savills where he provided development management advice to institutional and private clients. He has worked on large and small scale residential and mixed-use projects both in London and nationwide.

Hugo is a keen sportsman and enjoys travelling whenever possible. 

Jill Smith

Jill is a qualified Chartered Management Accountant and previous roles include Financial Accountant at Travis Perkins Plc and Management Accountant at Grant Thornton UK LLP. Jill is part of the finance team who are responsible for all accounting and financial control. She also assists with FCA compliance administration. 

Jill enjoys camping, eating out and as a parent to two boys, spends a lot of time at her local rugby club!

Jo Greenslade

Jo co-founded Barwood Capital in 2009 and was managing director from 2014-2019. She has taken a leading role in the creation and growth of several property businesses including a warehouse developer, a regional housebuilder, and a strategic land promotor. 

Jo is a Chartered Accountant and began her career at Ernst & Young before joining Thomson Reuters to create and manage an in-house global M&A team.

She is also a Trustee of Ark Schools, is married and has two daughters.

Joe Wright

Joe primarily manages the forecasting and analytical functions for Barwood Capital. He is also the Head of Digital Strategy, future proofing Barwood’s IT systems and requirements.

Having previously worked for The Garland Company Ltd and Nationwide, Joe joined Barwood Capital in 2012. Since then Joe has been involved in managing and advising Barwood’s investments within the commercial property, strategic land, and residential sectors.  

Outside of the office, Joe spends his time receiving swimming lessons from his son, cheering him on from the side-lines, and when he can, cycle racing through the mountains.

Jonathon Ellerington

Jonny joined Barwood Capital in 2017, having previously worked within the Valuations team at Lambert Smith Hampton and the National Industrial and Logistics team at Cushman and Wakefield. His main responsibilities include sourcing and appraising new opportunities and making acquisition recommendations. He also assists with the asset management of existing projects.

He is a qualified Chartered Surveyor, holds the IMC and has a first-class degree in Real Estate.

Outside of the office Jonny enjoys summer cycling, rock climbing and scoring the very rare screamer in 5-a-side football.

Joy Gordon

Joy has worked in client relations since 2008. Joy manages the investor relations role for all Barwood Capital's Funds and the Residential Investment Platform. 

In her spare time Joy enjoys the outdoors, spending time with her family and young grandchildren and is a keen lawn bowler.

Nick Masters

Nick joined Barwood Capital in September 2021 and is responsible for sourcing new commercial opportunities and making acquisition recommendations on behalf of Barwood Capital managed funds.

Prior to this, Nick was an Associate Partner at Cluttons within their investment and development team, where he provided UK-wide, cross-sector acquisition, disposal and development consultancy advice to leading institutional investors, private investors and developers. 

Outside of work, Nick is a keen swimmer and aspiring surfer.

Steve Chambers

Steve is a qualified banker and after 25 years of business and product development in corporate and property lending, Steve joined the fledgling Barwood Group in 2000. He has been responsible throughout for all debt sourcing and created the first Barwood Fund. He was also instrumental in securing our FCA status. Steve has led the drive into regional housing development and conceived the Residential Platform offering to investors.

Steve is a founding Director of Barwood Capital, enjoys innovation, challenging established thinking and contributing to strategy and new products.

After many years as an oarsman, he concentrates now on watching rugby and maintaining a life- long interest in music and biosciences.

Shyam Nottra

Shyam joined Barwood in 2022, having previously worked at Custodian Capital Limited as an Investment Analyst, specialising in real estate private debt and equity investments. His main responsibilities include appraising new opportunities and assisting with the management of existing projects.

He is a qualified Chartered Surveyor and holds a first-class degree in BSc (Hons) Property Finance and Investment from Nottingham Trent University.

Outside of work, Shyam enjoys spending time with his family and friends, traveling to new destinations and a keen sportsman.

Tom Darby

Tom joined Barwood Capital in February 2020 having previously worked at Underwoods. Before that, he studied for a BA in International Relations with Economics at the University of Birmingham and completed an MSc in Real Estate Management at Birmingham City University.

He is a qualified Chartered Surveyor and is responsible for appraising new residential opportunities

Tom's interests are football, skiing and watching Northampton Saints.
